Recently I was able to refinish a sideboard I got at Brimfield Fair this summer. I had been looking specifically for a vintage sideboard to convert into a TV stand. Brimfield didn’t disappoint! I found this in one of the back booths for a steal!
Here is what it looked like in all its glory. I must admit I was nervous about getting it home because I was not exactly sure it would fit in our space. But I decided to take the risk and try it anyway. I’m glad I did!
Here it is in my living room before paint…I was still skeptical…
Gorgeous lines and perfect legs/hardware…but a little dark for my space, so I decided to chalk paint it and then wax. I used Americana Decor chalk paint in Vintage. Absolutely love how it turned out!
Lucas was able to drill a hole in the back for TV cords to fit through. We stuck the modem and Roku in the left cabinet and kid’s DVDs in the right. The top drawer stores remotes and the bottom holds the DVD player. The functionality of this piece makes me so very happy.
Finding new uses for old items is one of my favorite things to do. The character and quality of a vintage piece can’t be beat! I can imagine this pretty was once in a dining room serving its purpose as storage for pretty china, or as a nice buffet for formal dinners…now it sits in my living room as a TV stand and media storage solution. I’m happy I could adopt this beauty, and I’ll enjoy it for years to come!
