It’s been awhile since I have done one of these posts. Honestly, I have been so caught up in the world of Instagram I have forgotten why we started this blog. To share a glimpse into our crazy worlds and to hopefully inspire our friends. My home is not perfect, my life is not perfect and it is so easy to “pretty” our pictures to make it seem like it is! How many times do we say, oh I wish I had that kitchen, or that living room is amazing I NEED ship lap! I know I do.
I have been reading the book Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst and this morning I read about perspective. Something that is missing in my Christian walk. This book targets our emotions, and how we either explode or stuff when situations are out of control (I may do a little of both). But before we can diffuse these emotions, we need perspective. And that calls for gentleness. Another area I need to work on! She says, “Regardless of the stress I’m under, I am capable of displaying God’s gentleness because of the Holy Spirit is in me”. Yes, no matter what we have His power. We need this gentleness to cultivate perspective. How about this one, “The more I rejoice, the more I keep things in perspective. The more I keep things in perspective, the gentler I become”. That hit home to me.
So here is my challenge, rejoice more in life. How can I turn what seems to be a discouragement into a blessing? Replace my grumpiness with thanksgiving. I also need to seek out perspective-magnifying opportunities. How can I use my talents and blessings to serve others that may not be as blessed.
Philippians 4:5 “Let your reasonableness (gentleness) be known to everyone…”
How about you? Have you lost perspective? Let’s all try to be a little gentler today!
