I have been wanting to paint my kitchen island for awhile now. It just wasn’t that high on the priority list. A few weeks ago I finally did it. We bought this island back when we moved into the house, and it has been a good quality piece of furniture. Sometimes I get nervous about painting good wood. I went back and forth on the color, to use a color, or match my cabinets? I finally went with the same Rustoleum kit I used on my kitchen cabinets. Mainly because it had been sitting in my basement and I knew it was going to hold up well. I discovered this kit a few years ago when we re-did our cabinets over. It holds up really well on the wear and tear of everyday life. I have not had one ding or scratch in the 5 years they have been painted. The only thing I did not like about this kit is that you have to choose a certain color from the manufacturer. I got as close to white as I could. It’s actually called winter fog, so it has a slight gray hue to it, which will look perfect when I get around to painting my walls white!
It took a couple of coats, but I love how it came out. I haven’t found stools that I love yet. Mainly because it’s a small space and I haven’t decided if I want to take up more room with the island leaf extended. Although, it would be a great space for the boys to do their homework. Now to find a cute rug to go underneath it!
