Recently, we were given a piano for our girls, from sweet friends moving down south. My girls are excited to have it and I was excited to decorate it! It’s the perfect size, and has a vintage vibe…which I love because it fits in with my décor. Pianos can be tricky to style so here are a few tips:
- Shop your house for items that might work. Once you get a sense of what you already have, you can fill in the space from there. I had a terrarium, some old books and a piano light I had picked up at a yard sale three summers ago (with the hopes I would someday have a piano to put it on).
- Next, I went yard saleing and ended up with this awesome map for .25 cents, a few more books for .25 cents each, a white planter for .50 cents, a milk glass vase for .50 cents and a thrift store gold frame for $1.00!! It was a good day!! Here is how I layered the loot…
Binoculars last (they belonged to my husband’s Grandfather) to tie in with the map!
3. Lastly, this map got a quick frame with two pieces of stained wood and suspended by a piece of twine to make it look schoolhouse! And the bench got a quick update with striped fabric layered with a cute fur rug from Hobby Lobby!
All that was needed for this bench makeover was a staple gun and screwdriver!
Easy, inexpensive and fun! Now the girls have a nice place to practice, practice, practice!!! 🙂
