Cinco de Mayo

Our littles turned 5 last year on May 5th and 6th.  A year has passed, and we are in denial that they are turning 6.  Here is a throwback to a fun and festive Cinco de Mayo party!

Starting with the food, we bought clear trays and assembled a nacho bar with toppings.  We also had a yummy fruit dip to go with the fruit.  For drinks we put out lemonade and water with limes in our favorite drink dispensers for the adults.  For the kids, we filled jelly jars and had them on ice for them to grab and  go.

Decorations were full of color, paper streamers cut into zig-zags, fun paper straws, and a donkey piñata.  Since you can’t have a fiesta without pin the tail on the donkey, Jolene’s Mom (Nona) custom made one for the kids.  We also gave each friend a swing at the piñata (insert worried moms faces), and had a frame and mustache props for pictures.  //Bargain alert: thrifted flea market frame for 2 dollars!//

For the desserts, Lindsay made a sombrero cake and cupcakes with fiesta toppers from Hobby Lobby.  Each birthday guest took home a sombrero hat and chocolate mustache as a party favor.

The past 6 years have been full of fun times and smiles with these two.  They bring our families so much joy.  We can’t wait to plan their 10th birthday party!
