Today is the day for getting back to some kind of a schedule. My two oldest are in full day this year (4th and 1st grade), and Lindsay has all three boys in full day (6th, 3rd & 1st). We had fun this summer! It was laid back (like summer should be) filled with friends and family. We stayed up past bedtime, slept in, had some lazy days and some crazy days. We read lots of books, wore our flip flops proud and ate popsicles like they were going out of style. The floors got sticky, entire rooms became forts, and memories were made at play-dates with friends. And I’m pretty sure all of our kids grew a couple of inches!
We both agree that Fall is our favorite season, but every year we want to hold on to summer a little bit longer. When we were young our parents would always comment on how fast time goes by. We never really thought about that until after we had kids…It feels like we were just celebrating the last day of school…crazy fast!
So, what happens now…we brace for the craziness that is the school year (homework, piano practice, youth group, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, craft fair/trunk show, the list goes on)…
Today we pause and thank our Heavenly Father for a few moments of quiet to conquer the chores we let go this summer and ask Him for strength and energy to handle what is ahead.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Autumn, we are ready…bring on the cooler mornings, cozy sweaters (but not too cozy that we have to give up our flip flops just yet), mums, pumpkin everything, hot lattes, apple picking and soccer games.
Happy back to school everyone!!!
Jolene and Lindsay
P.S. Does anyone know if Starbucks is selling their pumpkin spice lattes yet? We just might need to go get us one. 🙂
